About The Position

Rythm is seeking a Hardware Engineer with medical device experience to transition product concepts into production-ready components. This role requires hands-on experience in designing medical-grade products or devices. The engineer will collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to convert design briefs into detailed 3D models, molds, and simulations, making decisions on materials, tooling, and production. Responsibilities include building and testing prototypes, iterating until product goals are met, and balancing design intent with manufacturing practicality to ensure products are well-made, durable, and meet health product standards. This is a hands-on, independent role where the engineer will own projects from inception to production, making engineering decisions that benefit users. The company values precision, practical problem-solving, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience designing medical-grade products or medical devices.
  • 7–10 years of experience in product engineering or physical product design.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and Fusion 360.
  • Hands-on experience designing parts and molds for injection molding.
  • Experience running mold flow analysis and using the results to improve a design.
  • A portfolio or examples of products designed and taken into production, with a clear explanation of your contribution.
  • Experience building mockups and prototypes and guiding a product through many rounds of iteration.
  • Ability to listen closely to design requirements and execute on them with precision.
  • Practical judgment for balancing design intent with manufacturing constraints.
  • Comfort working independently and owning projects end to end.
  • Comfort receiving feedback, revising work, and staying aligned with product vision.
  • Curiosity and willingness to build deep knowledge of the company, products, and customers.
  • Follow-through and ability to manage multiple projects, prototypes, and deadlines.
  • Background in mechanical engineering, industrial design, medical device development, or consumer product engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Turn ideas into designs by developing design briefs, rough concepts, and product requirements into detailed 3D models with a clear path to production.
  • Translate design team intent into precise, buildable engineering by understanding requests and asking clarifying questions.
  • Design parts for manufacturing, specifically for injection molding, considering materials, tolerances, draft, wall thickness, and assembly from the outset.
  • Design molds for injection molding and manage the details of part production.
  • Run mold flow analysis to simulate the injection molding process, predict part filling, cooling, and performance, and refine designs based on results.
  • Build mockups and prototypes for early and frequent team review, handling, and testing.
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback from prototyping rounds to refine the product and meet its goals.
  • Own projects from concept through revisions, validation, and production-ready designs, working independently and managing timelines.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to understand production feasibility and ensure design integrity.
  • Maintain high standards for safety, reliability, and durability, as expected for health products.
  • Review product performance in production and use to inform future designs.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive base salary.
  • Meaningful equity aligned with the scope and impact of your role.
  • Flexible, remote-first work environment.
  • Generous Paid Time Off and company holidays.
  • 401(k).
  • Monthly Rythm membership with full access to at-home blood testing and personalized health insights.
  • Healthcare with monthly premium fully covered by the business.
  • High ownership and visibility from day one, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
  • The chance to help shape the future of personalized health and preventative care.
  • A small, collaborative, mission-driven team that moves quickly and values great ideas regardless of title.
