About The Position

The Hardware Engineer (HE) provides advanced engineering expertise to analyze, design, implement, and support complex hardware systems and infrastructure. This role is responsible for developing hardware solutions, conducting site surveys, and ensuring proper installation, configuration, and performance of IT hardware across environments. The Hardware Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring systems meet operational requirements and support organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution and Seven (7) years of experience analyzing and supporting complex hardware systems for IT solutions OR 11 years relevant hardware engineering experience in lieu of a degree
  • Proven experience with hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance across enterprise environments
  • Strong understanding of system integration, network infrastructure, and hardware lifecycle management
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation and engineering plans
  • Experience conducting site surveys and translating requirements into actionable designs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex hardware environments
  • Ability to travel and support deployments within CONUS as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting large-scale or distributed IT environments is a plus
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure, storage solutions, and enterprise networking equipment is a plus
  • Prior experience working with Technical Design Packages (TDPs) and engineering documentation standards is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support end users and technical teams is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and installations simultaneously is a plus
  • Knowledge of emerging hardware technologies and industry trends is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex hardware systems including system architecture, hardware design, and network configurations
  • Conduct site surveys to assess current environments, identify requirements, and document site-specific needs
  • Prepare detailed engineering plans and Technical Design Packages (TDPs) for hardware deployments
  • Recommend specifications for hardware acquisitions based on system and operational needs
  • Procure equipment and perform acceptance testing to ensure compliance with requirements
  • Develop installation schedules aligned to setup, integration, and testing timelines
  • Organize and lead hardware installation activities across CONUS locations
  • Configure and document system configurations including computers, networking devices, and peripherals
  • Perform preventative and remedial hardware maintenance and support
  • Prepare and maintain as-built documentation including diagrams, drawings, and configurations
  • Generate site installation reports, test documentation, and performance validations
  • Ensure identified issues are resolved and solutions meet user requirements
  • Provide input into system design, including end-user devices, servers, storage, networking, and specialized hardware
  • Develop installation guides, field test procedures, and troubleshooting documentation
  • Train onsite personnel on hardware usage, maintenance, and support processes
  • Stay informed on emerging hardware technologies and provide recommendations for adoption
