About The Position

The Haptic Engineering team develops innovative haptic solutions that are central to Apple’s products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch! Our key goal is to enable the world’s best user experience and explore the possibilities using haptics. We are a highly multi-functional team working in a hands-on environment that values creativity, engineering excellence, and passion for innovation. New challenges arise every single day that require the sharp analytical skills of versatile and forward-thinking individuals. We are seeking a finite element analyst to help us model complex physics and assess design concepts before they come to the real world. Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Familiar with Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL, or other FEA tools (Abaqus preferred)
  • Experience in analysis that involves non-linear materials and boundary conditions
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics, dynamics, and fracture mechanics
  • Proficiency with statistical data analysis and data visualization
  • Experience with 3D CAD (NX preferred)
  • Team-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Project experience in consumer electronics products design
  • Design and/or research experience with haptic technologies
  • Experience with automating FEA model creation workflows
  • Experience with using AI tools to accelerate scripting
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (JMP, MATLAB, Excel, etc)
  • High volume mass production experience
  • Experience in material modeling and digital image correlation
  • Experience with commercial preprocessing softwares such as Hypermesh, Simlab, and ANSA

Responsibilities

  • Enhance our understanding of complex physics
  • Build accurate FEA models that empower the design team to uncover design weaknesses during concept development
  • Identify root cause to engineering failures when physical measurement is challenging
