About The Position

The Haptic Engineering team at Apple develops innovative haptic solutions central to products like the iPhone and Apple Watch, aiming to provide the world's best user experience and explore new possibilities with haptics. This highly multi-functional team operates in a hands-on environment, valuing creativity, engineering excellence, and a passion for innovation. They are seeking a control engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of control systems and algorithms for next-generation haptic actuators and experiences. In this role, the Haptics Control Engineer will be critical in developing cutting-edge control systems that bring Apple's haptic technology to life, working at the intersection of control theory, signal processing, and electro-mechanical systems to create precise, responsive tactile feedback. Responsibilities span the complete lifecycle of haptic control system development, from initial concept and modeling through prototype implementation, validation, and factory production support.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree
  • Strong background in control engineering, dynamics, and signal processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team Oriented: must be able to thrive in collaborative cross-functional environments

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in control system design, analysis, implementation, and validation
  • Familiarity with modeling electro-mechanical system
  • Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink and C/C++
  • Experience with electromagnetic or piezoelectric actuators is a plus
  • Experience with high volume mass production is a plus
  • Knowledge of micro controller or embedded hardware/software is a plus
  • Knowledge of state-space techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge of nonlinear control technique is a plus
  • Experience with AI/ML-based control system design is a plus
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Physics or equivalent with a specialization in control engineering
