About The Position
nextSource manages recruitment programs for major universities. We have immediate needs for handypersons in upper Manhattan for three-month assignments. A HS diploma, GED, or higher required. A Handyperson is a position in the Facilities Department providing high quality and effective work to the residential buildings and grounds area and are responsible for the maintenance of these buildings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma and/or its equivalent required.
- Three years of related experience required.
- Some heavy lifting may be required.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
- Some supervisory experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Minor building and grounds repair.
- Preventive maintenance for several medium-sized apartment buildings.
- Performs minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and plastering work.
- Inspects building and equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance to ensure proper working conditions.
- Removes snow and spreads salts as needed.
- In the absence of building superintendent may assist with supervising of the building employees and arranging work schedules.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
