About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Our Troy, OH site location has an immediate need for a Handyperson to perform miscellaneous labor throughout the plant. This role involves maintaining clean, safe, and orderly work areas, operating material handling equipment, cleaning and maintaining machines and structures, managing spills, and operating cleaning equipment. The position also requires safe handling of hazardous waste, conducting inspections, and performing basic mathematical calculations. A vision assessment and the ability to perform physical tasks such as reaching, twisting, stooping, and lifting up to 25 lbs unassisted are also required.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year CNC machining experience or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with technical documents (including any of the following: routings, blueprints, Engineering process specifications, written work instructions.)
  • Pass a pre-employment qualification test.
  • Pass a vision assessment once per year, including an initial normal color vision test prior to employment.
  • Perform substantial reaching and moving while standing, twisting; stooping; and be response to sounds associated to the work environment.
  • Lift to 25 lbs. unassisted, anything over 25 lbs. would be assisted.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Follow foreman’s instructions; maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
  • Operate material handling equipment (manual and powered) to move materials, load/unload trucks, and handle special tasks (hazardous waste, scrap, etc.).
  • Clean, paint, and maintain machines, equipment, and structures; manage spills and apply floor sealers.
  • Operate power sweepers, scrubbers, and trash compactors.
  • Attend training and perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Safely handle, transfer, and load hazardous waste using forklifts; follow regulations.
  • Conduct weekly hazardous waste storage inspections.
  • Oil machines and retrieve items from the tool crib, completing required documentation.
