The HANDS Family Support Worker I position involves initiating and maintaining regular and long-term contact to provide support to first-time voluntary parents during the prenatal period and up to, but not inclusive of the child’s third birthday. The entry-level incumbent will participate in on-the-job training programs to become knowledgeable in introducing parenting skills to empower families to make their own decisions while remaining non-judgmental. This role assists parents with child development, parenting skills, health services, and other needed resources identified at the initial assessment or during visits. The worker is responsible for maintaining confidentiality of program information, facilitating family visitations, monitoring and documenting parent and child progress, preparing and maintaining case records, and conferring with the Program Coordinator and/or Supervisor for potential collaboration with other service providers.
