Get to know Thompson! Thompson was founded in 1886 as an orphanage and has grown into an organization operating across the Carolinas, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky. Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention, mental health services and foster care. All Thompson programs are trauma-informed and evidence-based/evidence-informed with the intention of building resilience in our clients (ages 0-18) and their families, both virtually and in person. As a Family Support Worker in the Florida Case Management Organization (CMO) department, you will provide transportation of youth to/from out-of-home care placements, to/from school, and to/from visits. Family Support Workers also supervise parent visits. A typical day as a Family Support Worker will include managing crises, de-escalating youth and adults, and driving. As a Family Support Worker, a large amount of time is spent face-to-face with high-needs teenagers, transporting them. Work hours vary based on shift and client demand, and an on-call schedule for nights and weekends is required.
