About The Position

The purpose of this position is to serve as a clinical and operational leader within Rehabilitation Services while maintaining patient care responsibilities in hand therapy. The Supervisor evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, and ensures high-quality, consistent care across outpatient locations while providing mentorship and oversight to therapy staff. This role supports daily operations, including productivity, staffing, and compliance with documentation and regulatory standards, and contributes to staff development, intern supervision, and departmental initiatives. A primary focus is leading the transition to L- code billing practices through staff education, workflow development, and collaboration to ensure accurate, compliant billing and optimal outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a pediatric care setting.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Current and valid license to practice in Oregon in either Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • American Heart BLS for Healthcare Provider.
  • Leadership: Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide a diverse team.
  • Clinical Expertise: Advanced knowledge and skills in rehabilitation hand therapy.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing clinical and operational needs.
  • Professionalism: Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of L-code billing procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, develops and implements treatment plans, and ensures high-quality, consistent care across outpatient locations.
  • Provides mentorship and oversight to therapy staff.
  • Supports daily operations, including productivity, staffing, and compliance with documentation and regulatory standards.
  • Contributes to staff development, intern supervision, and departmental initiatives.
  • Leads the transition to L- code billing practices through staff education, workflow development, and collaboration.
  • Maintains high-quality customer service to both external customers (patient, referring providers, insurance carriers) and internal customers (OHSU health care providers and staff).
  • Ensures prompt and professional communication efforts, crisis management and crisis management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Facilitates positive intra-organizational relationships through joint projects.
  • Responds pro-actively in standard complaint processing.
  • Directs supervision of all occupational and physical therapist on the hand team.
  • Interviews, hires, orients, and trains employees under own supervision.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources for recruitment and required processing of position changes.
  • Communicates performance expectations, develops work plans and takes disciplinary actions for performance issues.
  • Monitors successful completion of competencies, assigns and approves work.
  • Analyzes scheduling efficiency, productivity and coordinates with manager.
  • Assists employees with problem identification and resolution.
  • Participates, leads and coordinates continuous quality improvement which enhances clinical practice, the administrative process, and development of staff so that value added services are provided.
  • Works with assigned staff to develop and support related group and individual work to optimize care, work life and communication within the unit and throughout the organization.
  • Assures communication to and from administration and other disciplines to service line.
  • Partners with physicians and other disciplines in the achievement of patient care goals.
  • Leads and monitors hand therapy billing practices to optimize charge capture, ensure compliance, and maximize revenue integrity across services.
  • Adheres to OHSU Code of Conduct and all Hospital, Clinic and Rehabilitation Therapy Services Policy and Procedures.
  • Participates as a member of the departmental compliance program.
  • Maintains core competencies and demonstrate continuous application of these skills throughout the period of employment.
