About The Position

This job serves as a full-time post-graduate occupational therapy resident. Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy treatment programs based upon evaluation, assessment, and medical referral. Maintains patient care records, evaluates the patient’s response to treatment, and recommends treatment plan changes. Receives training based on a didactic curriculum, clinical education, skills, professional collaboration, and community outreach. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
  • Current occupational therapy license in state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills and ability to deal with a variety of patients and diagnoses.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to perform all job duties associated with the program.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in occupational therapy.
  • 1 year of experience in outpatient occupational therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Performs age and diagnosis appropriate evaluations and treatment.
  • Maintains patient records according to documentation standards, policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the education and training of occupational therapy students.
  • Participates in program development and enhancement for special departmental programs.
  • Conducts research, collects data, writes professional papers, participates in special projects, and pursues continuing education.
  • Participates in all activities associated with occupational therapy residency/fellowship completion, including but not limited to participation in educational activities, testing, and clinical mentorship.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
