Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience using hand tools and/or hand-held power tools.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds frequently within an 8 hour shift.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Must be a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Experience in handling chemicals and hazardous materials (i.e., isopropyl alcohol and metals).

Responsibilities

  • Review the work area and job assignments from the Team Leader or lead to understand tasks and priorities.
  • Examine CMES, manufacturing plans, and engineering drawings to determine the specific areas and parts to be worked on.
  • Perform hand finishing on milled spars, spar caps, skins, and small sheet metal parts (e.g., shear ties, clips, brackets) to specified tolerances and finishes.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools—including files, scrapers, saws, routers, air-powered sanders, rotary files, abrasive wheels, and sanding discs—to remove machine marks, burrs, surface irregularities, and blemishes.
  • Break sharp edges and form specified radii and chamfers on parts to prevent cracking during forming operations such as hydroforming and stretching.
  • Clean surfaces using solvents and/or water, then wipe dry to prepare parts for further processing or packaging.
  • Mark parts as required and package finished parts using protective wrap and inter-leaf materials to ensure safe handling and transport.
  • Check own work for conformance to specifications and quality standards; stamp work orders to indicate completed operations.
  • Assist and collaborate with higher-classified employees to complete detailed parts and spar cap machining and finishing.
  • Handle and rack spar caps, parts, and materials safely, using shop handling equipment as needed.
  • Communicate with Team Leader, supervisor, or co-workers promptly when assistance is needed or if any issues arise.
