About The Position
Bradington-Young, a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation, is seeking an experienced Fabric, Denim, and Pillow Cutter to join its manufacturing team in Hickory, North Carolina. The role involves laying out and cutting fabric according to patterns and specified measurements, inspecting materials for defects, and preparing cut pieces for production. The successful candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, able to work independently, and comfortable standing and moving throughout the workday. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., and Friday, 7:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. Pay is $23.00–$27.00, depending on experience.
Requirements
- Previous manufacturing experience.
- Ability to stand and move around for 8–9 hours a day.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Lay out fabric on the marking table.
- Understand fabrics and how different types and patterns, such as plaids, stripes, plains, five-star patterns, and spots, should be cut.
- Read and understand patterns made for specific furniture styles.
- Operate electric cutting tools and non-powered tools such as scissors to cut fabric according to specified measurements and patterns.
- Label and bundle pieces after cutting.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves.
- Inspect fabric for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with the sewing team to ensure fabric pieces are cut accurately.
- Scan tickets using the computer system for tracking.
- Maintain and clean cutting equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Organize and store fabric rolls and remnants.
