About The Position

We seek applicants for part-time instructors to teach within the College's Heartland Academy for Learning Opportunities (HALO) program. The HALO Program provides a higher education experience for individuals between the ages of 18 and 28 with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and other learning challenges. Instructors provide HALO students with exposure to various social and academic enrichment opportunities and coursework, including life skills and independent living. Instructors are needed for the Normal, IL, location during the upcoming Fall 2026 semester.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in special education, education, or related field OR bachelor’s degree with completion of some graduate level coursework in special education, education, or other applicable areas
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and inclusively with HALO students while promoting students’ independence
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Ability to be present on-campus/in-person is required.

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • The anticipated compensation rate is $2,500 per class, per semester.
