About The Position

The Hall Monitor is responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of students during classroom and non-classroom activities. This role aims to minimize harmful incidents and communicate observations that could impact students, school personnel, and visitors. The Hall Monitor reports to the Building Administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist school personnel and visitors by providing information and ensuring site safety and security.
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties, including police and first responders, to ensure safety protocols are understood and followed.
  • Communicate safety and security policies and enforcement procedures to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Escort students, assigned personnel, and visitors to ensure their safety and provide site security.
  • Intervene in potential conflicts and emergency situations to minimize disruptions and injuries.
  • Monitor student behavior in various campus locations and during events to ensure compliance with guidelines and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, and workshops to share and gather information.
  • Prepare written documentation, such as incident reports and activity logs.
  • Refer incidents, including injuries, altercations, suspicious activities, and rule violations, to appropriate personnel for follow-up.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding campus security issues, providing information, direction, or referrals.
  • Respond to various situations such as accidents, injuries, vandalism, suspicious activities, and alarms to resolve immediate safety and security concerns.
  • Supervise school corridors, locker rooms, restrooms, assembly and athletic facilities, gymnasiums, bus loading areas, and other campus locations to observe student behavior and prevent violations.
  • Supervise student behavior before and after school, and during and between assigned periods in areas like restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, the library, and the cafeteria.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning.
