About The Position

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Hall Monitor for a seasonal role during the Summer of 2026. This position is ideal for individuals who are motivated to help others and want to be part of a charitable, mission-driven organization dedicated to individual and community well-being. The Hall Monitor will assist in maintaining a safe school environment by monitoring student activity in halls, throughout the building, and outside. This role involves being a welcoming presence for parents and visitors, supervising student activities, and reporting any incidents or disruptions to the Site Director. The Hall Monitor contributes to the Y's mission by supporting and nurturing youth adversely impacted by the achievement gap.

Requirements

An interest in the well-being of school age youth, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit
The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, school administration and other Y associates
An ability to keenly observe your surroundings
An ability to be calm and composed in emergency or stressful situations
A high school diploma or equivalent
Agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth
Complete training on child abuse prevention
Comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth

Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining a safe school environment by monitoring student activity in halls, throughout the building and outside of the building.
Greet parents and help visitors get to where they need to go.
Monitor and supervise student activity.
Notify the Site Director of any incidents or disruptions.
Support and nurture youth adversely impacted by the achievement gap.
