About The Position

The Hall Monitor/ISS Coordinator is responsible for maintaining building security, monitoring student behavior, coordinating in-school suspension (ISS) and lunch detention, participating in the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT), upholding cell phone policies, and serving as a building substitute teacher assistant. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the building's layout, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to various situations, from security concerns to student support needs. The position also involves administrative tasks such as documentation and communication with administration and support staff.

Requirements

  • Ability to know all aspects of the building, including door numbers, teacher classroom locations, offices, bathrooms, maintenance/electrical closets.
  • Ability to communicate precise location in the building and travel to a precise location when requested over the radio.
  • Ability to lock and unlock interior and exterior doors.
  • Ability to communicate with custodial/maintenance staff regarding building issues.
  • Ability to receive and respond to phone/radio calls from security staff.
  • Ability to carry a radio and respond to requests from office staff and administration.
  • Ability to circulate through the building consistently.
  • Ability to escort students to proper administration.
  • Ability to monitor halls and entryways for individuals with trespassing orders.
  • Ability to be visible for assistance to teachers or other staff members.
  • Anticipate 10,000-15,000 steps per day.
  • Ability to coordinate with teachers/dean on classwork for ISS students.
  • Ability to assist students with gathering and completing classwork during the day.
  • Ability to utilize Blocksi to ensure only classwork is being accessed on Chromebook.
  • Ability to complete documentation for students with IEP/504.
  • Ability to assist students with getting lunch and monitor during lunch period.
  • Ability to enter and track suspensions/detentions in a shared administrative spreadsheet.
  • Ability to participate in all aspects of the Medical Emergency Response Team.
  • Ability to maintain certification in AED/CPR and any other certifications deemed necessary.
  • Ability to uphold district wide standards on use of cell phones during instructional time.
  • Ability to escort students who are in violation to the office to lock up their phone.
  • Ability to coordinate with Cell Phone Management to track violations.
  • Ability to report higher levels of violations to the appropriate administrative member.
  • Ability to maintain communication with administration on student and safety concerns.
  • Ability to record log entries in PowerSchool regarding student behavior concerns.
  • Ability to track students who are on hall pass/bathroom restrictions and enforce restriction policies.
  • Ability to perform any other duties administration may assign.
  • Possess a general knowledge of all TA building roles.
  • Ability to perform as a building TA substitute in event of absence, sometimes with short or no notice.
  • Ability to provide extra in-class support for special education teachers and students as needed.
  • Willingness to complete training to become a backup Healthcare TA.
  • Ability to perform Healthcare TA duties as requested, including working in the healthcare room and going on school related field trips.

Responsibilities

  • Know all aspects of the building, including door numbers, teacher classroom locations, offices, bathrooms, maintenance/electrical closets, and travel to precise locations when requested.
  • Lock all exterior doors and check all interior doors each morning after the first bell and several times throughout the day.
  • Communicate with custodial/maintenance staff regarding building issues and follow through on requests.
  • Receive and respond to phone/radio calls from security staff to check on alarms.
  • Carry a radio and respond to requests from office staff and administration, including checking bathrooms, searching for students, responding to fights, retrieving students, escorting visitors, and MERT calls.
  • Circulate through the building consistently, checking hallways, stairwells, and bathrooms.
  • Escort students to administration for behavioral issues.
  • Monitor halls and entryways for individuals with trespassing orders.
  • Be visible to assist teachers and staff with students.
  • Coordinate with teachers/dean on classwork for students in ISS.
  • Assist students with gathering and completing classwork in ISS, ensuring appropriate Chromebook usage.
  • Complete documentation for students with IEP/504 regarding access to educational settings in ISS.
  • Assist students with lunch and monitor during lunch detention, ensuring appropriate Chromebook usage.
  • Enter and track suspensions/detentions in a shared administrative spreadsheet.
  • Participate in all aspects of the Medical Emergency Response Team, including responding to calls, providing medical support, documenting responses, and participating in trainings.
  • Maintain certification in AED/CPR and other necessary certifications.
  • Uphold district-wide standards on cell phone use during instructional time.
  • Escort students violating cell phone policy to the office and coordinate with Cell Phone Management.
  • Report higher levels of cell phone violations to administration.
  • Maintain communication with administration on student and safety concerns.
  • Record log entries in PowerSchool regarding student behavior concerns.
  • Track students on hall pass/bathroom restrictions and enforce policies.
  • Perform other duties assigned by administration.
