About The Position

The Stylist is responsible for executing protocols provided on panelists hair. This role involves following study instructions and protocols with controlled and consistent application of products to eliminate variability. The Stylist will perform comparison evaluations, provide objective hair product performance evaluations, and assess hair health and appearance from a consumer perspective, articulating product performance and insights. This position also assists with method development, standardizing protocols, and creating new ones as project demands change. The Stylist will identify reference products, confidently assess and style diverse hair types, and drive qualitative understanding through product usage. Additionally, they will assist in consultations and brainstorming sessions, provide calibration work on mannequins and live patrons, and be experienced and articulate in discussing hair user experience, products, and science.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with hair and styling hair.
  • Completion of a cosmetology license
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.
  • Promptness.

Responsibilities

  • Follow study instructions and protocols using controlled and consistent application of products, eliminating variability that occurs due to inconsistent consumer self-application.
  • Perform comparison evaluations via half head testing.
  • Provide objective hair product performance evaluations against a prescribed, consistent set of attributes.
  • Evaluate hair (hair health and hair end-look / beauty) from consumer perspective and articulate aspects of product performance and provide insights that typical consumer may not articulate.
  • Assist with method development-standardizing protocols, creating new protocols as project demands change.
  • Identify reference products that span an entire attribute.
  • Confidently assess and style diverse hair types (straight, wavy, curly, coily, etc.) and hair switches.
  • Drive qualitative understanding through product usage/experience.
  • Assist in consultations before products and brainstorming sessions after projects.
  • Provide calibration work on mannequins and live patrons (lather, shine, smoothness, softness, etc.).
  • Experienced and articulate talking about the hair user experience, hair products, and hair science.
