About The Position

As a Cosmetologist at BYU, you’ll provide a variety of beauty services, including haircuts, color and highlighting techniques, styling, waxing, makeup, and basic manicure and pedicure services. You’ll help clients maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails by recommending products and educating them on proper care. You’ll work with a friendly and motivated team to ensure clients leave feeling pampered and rejuvenated. This is a part-time position of 28 hours per week. Pay is commission only.

Requirements

• Firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
• Current cosmetology or barber license from the State of Utah.
• Strong public relations and customer service skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and outgoing personality.
• Ability to work flexible hours and as needed.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of current beauty trends and techniques.
• Compliance with BYU Honor Code and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform haircuts, color, highlights, styling, and other hair services to meet clients’ needs.
• Provide makeup services and basic manicure and pedicure treatments.
• Apply gel polish and provide waxing services as needed.
• Educate clients on caring for their hair, skin, and nails, and recommend salon products to maintain results.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
• Foster positive relationships with clients by delivering excellent customer service.
• Maintain professionalism and cooperation with coworkers and clients.
