About The Position

The HACCP Program Manager is the contractor's designated key person for the VISN 6 Water Management / Legionella Testing contract. The solicitation requires this individual to hold a bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering and to be a Certified HACCP Manager. This role supervises sampling and shipping, reviews each facility's Water Safety/Management Plan, directs the quarterly Legionella sampling program across seven VA Medical Centers, oversees laboratory analysis through a CDC ELITE–certified lab, manages potable-water remediation events, ensures all reporting and data-spreadsheet deliverables, and serves as the technical point of contact to the COR and each facility's Technical Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in science or engineering.
  • Certified HACCP Manager.
  • ASSE/IAPMO/ANSI 12080 (Legionella Water Safety and Management Specialist) is accepted as an equivalent qualification.
  • Valid state driver's license (multi-site field travel across NC/VA).
  • Ability to pass a VA background investigation and obtain facility access/badging.
  • Comply with facility drug-screening and health/immunization requirements.
  • Five years' experience collecting and reporting Legionella tests in a hospital environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing Water Management Programs that address both cost and safety in potable and utility water.
  • Experience producing HACCP program validation and verification data.
  • Familiarity administering programs under VHA Directive 1061 and The Joint Commission water-management requirements.

  • Certified Water Technologist (CWT, Association of Water Technologies — 5 yrs field experience + exam)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • ASHRAE Standard 188 / Water Management Program training
  • OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry)
