About The Position

The Habilitation Manager at LIFE, Inc. - Goldsboro plays a vital role as an integral member of the Interdisciplinary Team, overseeing daily operations and ensuring the well-being and development of consumers. This position involves conducting initial and annual habilitation assessments, implementing training programs, and closely monitoring individual objectives. The Manager is responsible for maintaining high standards of personal care for all consumers, coordinating medical needs, and ensuring compliance with ICF regulations. Additionally, the role includes supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), managing staff schedules, approving timekeeping, and upholding all LIFE, Inc. policies to guarantee the smooth and safe operation of group homes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background required.
  • Must meet the qualifications and knowledge requirements of Direct Support Professionals.
  • In-depth understanding of group home operations and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health conditions.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations and management principles.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred; background in human services is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership abilities coupled with strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
  • Proven ability to organize, coordinate, and manage daily operational activities effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied schedules as needed.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds or more.
  • Ability to bend, lift, turn quickly, and respond promptly in various situations.
  • Willingness to work in environments where occasional exposure to blood and bodily fluids may occur.
  • Availability to fulfill on-call responsibilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the Interdisciplinary Team to collaborate on consumer care and program development.
  • Conduct initial and annual habilitation assessments for assigned consumers, evaluating progress and needs.
  • Implement in-service training sessions and monitor the achievement of specific objectives for consumers and staff.
  • Ensure that the personal appearance and hygiene of all consumers meet LIFE, Inc. standards consistently.
  • Manage and oversee the medical needs of each assigned consumer, including medication administration, ordering medications as directed, and arranging transportation to medical appointments in compliance with ICF regulations.
  • Supervise the daily operations of all assigned facilities, ensuring cleanliness, proper maintenance of equipment, and a safe working environment.
  • Ensure vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained to guarantee safety and reliability.
  • Schedule and coordinate all required annual inspections, such as fire safety and sanitation checks, to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of emergency food, daily necessities, and other household inventories.
  • Supervise and support Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), including assisting with disciplinary actions to ensure adherence to LIFE, Inc. policies and procedures.
  • Lead training and orientation for new employees and provide ongoing professional development as required by LIFE, Inc.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for DSPs, delivering constructive feedback and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure full implementation and enforcement of LIFE, Inc. policies related to facility operation and staff supervision.
  • Complete all required inspections and observations in accordance with LIFE, Inc. policy guidelines.
  • Create and manage staff work schedules to ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and ICF/IID regulations.
  • Approve Paid Time Off (PTO) requests and maintain adequate coverage for each group home’s needs.
  • Develop and oversee monthly activity calendars to engage consumers effectively.
  • Manage household purchasing to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Monitor DSP schedules and work hours; review and approve timesheets accurately and promptly.
