About The Position

As a Gym Monitor at the Y, you help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children and families using the play structure and program spaces. You will actively supervise participants to ensure their safety, enforce Y policies, and respond quickly to any concerns or emergencies. Through your presence and attention to detail, you help ensure every child and family has a positive, inclusive, and enjoyable experience. In this role, you directly support the Y’s mission by promoting youth safety, healthy development, and community connection in a fun and active environment.

Requirements

An ability to stay alert, attentive, and actively supervise children in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with children, families, and staff
Sound judgment and the ability to enforce rules consistently and calmly
An interest in creating safe, positive, and inclusive spaces for youth and families
The ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safety concerns or emergencies
Comfort working with diverse populations in a customer-facing environment
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends
Abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth
Complete training on child abuse prevention
Comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth
