About The Position

The Youth Support Specialist provides outreach, case management, and supportive services to youth and young adults ages 16–24 who are at risk of violence, justice involvement, or other barriers to success. Reporting to the Director of Youth Support Services, this position connects participants to education, employment, behavioral health, and community resources while promoting positive youth development, violence prevention, and long-term self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adolescents or young adults in community-based programs, education, behavioral health, workforce development, or human services.
  • Knowledge of positive youth development, violence prevention, trauma-informed care, and community resources.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with WIOA-funded or workforce development programs.
  • Experience providing case management or community outreach.
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed Care, or Youth Mental Health.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach, engagement, and case management for youth ages 16–24.
  • Complete participant assessments and develop individualized service plans.
  • Maintain regular contact with participants through meetings, phone calls, text messages, and home visits as appropriate.
  • Connect participants to education, employment, behavioral health, mentoring, substance use treatment, and other community resources.
  • Monitor participant progress and provide ongoing support to achieve established goals.
  • Deliver prevention education, life skills training, and violence prevention programming.
  • Provide services consistent with WIOA and other program requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, support groups, and youth engagement activities.
  • Participate in collaborative meetings with schools, community organizations, law enforcement, and other service providers.
  • Support special events, outreach initiatives, and community engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, case notes, service logs, and required documentation.
  • Collect program data and prepare reports in accordance with funding requirements.
  • Utilize electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation activities.
  • Participate in required trainings, including trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, positive youth development, and violence prevention.
  • Attend staff meetings, community meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
