About The Position

Music & Arts is seeking a guitar teacher to teach and inspire students through private music lessons. The teacher creates an engaging, supportive, and safe learning environment for students of varying ages and skill levels, builds relationships with students and parents, and works with store teams to schedule lessons and encourage student retention. Music & Arts handles administrative work so instructors can focus on teaching. The listed pay is $17.00 per hour for non-teaching work and $12–$24 per hour for teaching, depending on background and experience. Eligible musician employees may take gig leave to perform and return to their jobs after a tour. The role is with Music & Arts, part of the Guitar Center enterprise, which has 225+ retail stores, 200+ educational representatives, and 250+ affiliate locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or Music Performance, or equivalent experience.
• Two years of music teaching experience, especially with guitar.

Nice To Haves

• Further teaching experience with a related instrument.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in Music.
• Professional teaching memberships or certifications.
• Eight or more years of teaching experience, especially with multiple instruments, including banjo, baritone, bass clarinet, bass guitar, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, French horn, guitar, mandolin, oboe, percussion, piano, piccolo, saxophone, string bass, trombone, trumpet, tuba, ukulele, viola, violin, and voice.
