Guitar Faculty
About The Position
The Boston School of Music Arts is seeking an energetic and experienced Guitar Faculty member to join their team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and has a passion for teaching students ages 5 and up, and Adults in private and small group classes. This is an in-school position, and the successful candidate will be a part-time, W2 employee. The school focuses on performance confidence and competence, in addition to music reading and writing skills, and creative expression through music. They have two locations in Boston, conveniently located near public transportation and parking, in an eclectic, culturally rich area.
Requirements
- Solid Guitar performance experience and teaching ability - across multiple genres.
- Reliable.
- Ability to create a warm, engaging, and encouraging music learning experience in 1-on-1 and group settings.
- Must pass background test, showing suitability to teach children.
- Can work independently, and be directed at times.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organized.
- Performers who have 10+ years of teaching experience.
- Experienced performers.
- Great with children.
- Outgoing personality.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with an additional instrument (Ukulele or Piano) is preferred.
- A college degree in music is NOT required, although preferred.
- Ideally 2+ years' experience teaching music to ages 5 to Adult.
Responsibilities
- Provide a fun and engaging experience for students.
- Become trained, and certified in delivering our lessons program.
- Keep internal lessons progress notes.
- Prepare students for community performances and school performances.
- May prepare students for competitions as BSMA rep, or for special auditions.
- Will teach small groups and bands weekly.
