Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • Test Engineering Certification from an industry-recognized provider.
  • Guidewire Associate Certification.
  • 5+ years of dedicated hands-on experience in software testing as a senior team member.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Development and/or Quality Assurance.
  • 5+ years of proven experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, including configuration and rating testing.
  • 5+ years of experience in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry, including Auto and Property lines of business.
  • Strong knowledge of the Guidewire policy lifecycle and transactions such as New Submission, Policy Change, Renewals, Cancellations, Reinstatement, and Rewrite.
  • Experience testing integrations within the Guidewire environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development and Testing Lifecycle (SD/TLC).
  • Experience with JIRA, Zephyr, browser developer tools, and Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills with the ability to clearly document complex processes and tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to meet timelines and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Strong work ethic with a punctual, creative, detail-oriented, and team-focused approach.
  • Commitment to simplification, continuous improvement, and embracing change.
  • Ability to quickly learn and become familiar with software products being tested.

Responsibilities

  • Review user stories, requirements, and technical design specification documents and provide feedback from a Quality Assurance perspective.
  • Design, build, update, and execute existing and new regression test suites.
  • Create comprehensive test strategies, test plans, estimates, complex test scenarios, and test cases, and lead and execute testing activities according to the agreed delivery plan.
  • Deliver testing estimates and scope of work with coverage and traceability to business requirements, test requirements, scenarios, and test cases.
  • Provide test artifact walkthroughs to the delivery team for review and feedback.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Use testing tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, and Selenium to build, modify, and execute manual and automated test cases where applicable, and manage defects.
  • Proactively identify and manage testing-related risks and escalate issues when required.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, scrum masters, product owners, and other internal teams, providing feedback from a testing perspective.
  • Meet challenging deadlines and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Maintain a positive, efficient, and collaborative working environment and positively influence others.
  • Act as the voice of quality by raising issues when needed and highlighting delivery risks.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant IT testing standards and controls to ensure software changes achieve the quality required to satisfy business needs.

Benefits

  • Salaried: $63 per hour.
  • Incorporated Business Rate: $72 per hour.
  • 12-month contract.
  • Daytime schedule: 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hybrid role requiring on-site presence in Markham 3 days per week.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
