About The Position

The purpose of this job posting is to create an active bank of candidates for six months (May 1, 2026, to October 30, 2026). Guides are key ambassadors of the museum, responsible for delivering engaging public and educational programming that showcases Canadian history and innovations in aerospace engineering, general aviation, military aviation, and space exploration. They interpret the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and programs to various audiences, providing demonstrations, interactive activities, guided tours, and educational programs to enrich the visitor experience and foster a deeper understanding of Canadian history and innovation. Guides also support the museum's operational needs, including assisting with the care and monitoring of museum spaces, services, and collections, as well as ensuring the health and safety of visitors. They play a vital role in upholding the museum's educational mission, enhancing visitor engagement, and contributing to membership and revenue objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year post-secondary education (college or university) in the field of History of Aerospace, Aviation, Science, Engineering, Education, Communication, History, Museum Studies or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in interpretation, education, theatrical experience in museums, tourism, schools and or related fields.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children, youths and the public.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a front facing or customer engagement role.
  • Knowledge of concepts in the world of aerospace, aviation, engineering, various wars and space missions.
  • Knowledge of different learning styles and interpretive techniques to deliver public and educational programming to diverse audiences of varying ages and group size.
  • Knowledge of concepts of Canadian history and the First Nations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages.
  • Ability to work well independently without supervision, using your time efficiently.
  • Ability to work well as part of a cohesive team, being collaborative.
  • Ability to deliver dynamic interpretive and educational programming in a stimulating and captivating way.
  • Ability to assess all sorts of situations, remain calm, de-escalate and find solutions by using sound judgement.
  • Ability to address aerospace and aviation-related questions and interact with visitors with objectivity, composure and empathy.
  • Ability to listen, be patient and understand visitors.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or squat for long periods of time.
  • Enhanced reliability security clearance.
