About The Position

Millennium Space Systems, part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a small satellite company focused on national security space missions. The Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineering Team delivers the GNC subsystem for satellite programs and/or constellations, including subsystem- and system-level analysis, sensor and actuator selection, and Flight Control Software development and verification. GNC engineers contribute throughout the program lifecycle, from mission and system design through analysis, software and algorithm development, satellite integration and test, and on-console support for on-orbit operations. In this mid-level or lead role, the engineer delivers the GNC subsystem—including hardware, software, and analysis—for a satellite program. At the lead/senior level, the engineer may serve as the Responsible Engineering Authority for one program or as the GNC focal for a portfolio. The role provides technical leadership, breaks down complex work, coordinates across engineering and manufacturing, reports through program and functional management chains, and guides and mentors team members. The internal job code is Guidance, Nav & Controls Engr; the team is hiring at levels 3 and 4. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, and a final Top Secret clearance is required after starting. Applicants must be U.S. citizens for the clearance requirement and must meet U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. Person. The role is at a facility requiring special access. The position is not safety sensitive and is not contingent upon program award. The employer will not sponsor employment visas. Pay ranges are $123,000–$183,000 for Level 3 and $135,150–$198,750 for Level 4. Pay depends on experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
At least 3 years of experience with GNC fundamentals.
At least 1 year of spacecraft system-level experience.
At least 1 year of experience collaborating with other engineering subsystems and program leadership.
Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for this clearance.
Meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
Willingness to apply for and maintain a security clearance; a post-start Top Secret clearance is required.
Satisfy the company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Deliver the GNC subsystem, including hardware, software, and analysis, for a satellite program.
Perform GNC subsystem design and analysis, software development, and component selection to meet program requirements.
Manage development of GNC products within program cost and schedule constraints.
Report technical execution progress to program and company leadership, and track and mitigate risk.
Interface with other satellite subsystems, systems engineering, and program management to ensure system-level performance.
Provide technical leadership to a team of GNC engineers, including decomposing and delegating program work.
As applicable at the lead/senior level, serve as the Responsible Engineering Authority for a program or as the GNC focal for a portfolio, and provide guidance and mentorship.
