About The Position

The Guidance Navigation Control Engineer III designs, develops, implements, verifies, and tests algorithms, software, and simulation tools for guidance, navigation, and control. These support aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles, and upper stages across powered and coast phases of launch, flight, Earth orbit, interplanetary cruise, orbital insertion, and staging events. Navigation work includes statistically processing measured data points and applying them to algorithms that simulate physical reality. Guidance work includes formulating equations to achieve a desired position, orientation, or orbit in space. Control design and analysis involve developing control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles, and/or spacecraft. This is a 12-month W2 contract role based onsite in Chandler, Arizona, with travel 10% of the time. The candidate must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Experience with Kalman filtering.
  • Experience with signal processing for guided missiles and/or interceptors.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining algorithms and analysis tools in C++, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Strong foundation in probability theory and statistics.
  • Experience with electro-optical imaging systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel 10% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or applied mathematics.
  • Experience with onboard/offboard sensor fusion.
  • Experience analyzing large Monte Carlo data sets and/or designing and analyzing simulation experiments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, verify, and test guidance, navigation, and control algorithms, software, and simulation tools.
  • Perform navigation functions, including statistical processing of measured data points and their use in algorithms that simulate physical reality.
  • Formulate guidance equations to achieve desired positions, orientations, or orbits in space.
  • Develop control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles, and/or spacecraft.
