About The Position

Lentech is seeking an experienced Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Engineer to support NASA Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Mission Operations. This position requires a self-motivated, capable person with strong analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise and be confident when communicating complex technical ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, or a related discipline, or equivalent education in related discipline with combined experience
  • GN&C experience with spaceflight hardware and in-depth knowledge of attitude determination and control algorithms and sensors
  • Extensive attitude modelling, simulation, and data analysis experience
  • Experience using data analysis tools/techniques (e.g., MATLAB, SQL)
  • Elevated mathematics and programming skills (e.g., Java, Python)
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and oral and written communications skills
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
  • Ability to understand and apply new concepts within an evolving environment
  • Must be a US citizen with ability to pass a government background investigation

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience in the aerospace industry with concentration in attitude determination and control systems
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git, Jira)

Responsibilities

  • Perform fault/anomaly analysis and performance trending of attitude control actuator and sensor performance, identify appropriate workarounds, and implement solutions
  • Identify potential control law issues, determine control modifications, perform simulations and analyses, and assess on-orbit performance
  • Respond to operational anomalies and provide 24x7 on-call anomaly support
  • Create and modify analysis and trending software tools
  • Generate technical reports and presentations
  • Develop and maintain command procedures, telemetry display pages, and subsystem operations procedures/documentation
  • Support planning and execution of ground test and spacecraft operations activities
  • Must be able to work on site full time at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, in a multidisciplinary team environment
