About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an experienced Guidance and Control (GNC) Engineer to join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying embedded algorithms for inertial tracking, navigation, and sensor fusion, as well as developing and validating models and simulations for target detection. The engineer will evaluate system performance, verify requirements, and support ground and flight test activities, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL). Opportunities exist to work on diverse programs in various stages of development and to support program reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
  • Interim Clearance is needed to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.
  • Candidate should be fluent in MATLAB, python, and C++
  • Candidate should have relevant experience in performing analysis trades utilizing simulations and may include: (simulation model development, performance assessment, flight test scenario planning, pre and post-flight predictions, analysis tool creation, GNC algorithm assessments, and simulation verification, & validation activities)
  • Experience implementing and debugging GNC algorithms running in a real-time environment and experience processing instrumented real-time system data.
  • Candidate must be proficient in developing and validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB
  • Experience with linear algebra software packages
  • Experience with Extended and Unscented Kalman filtering is desired
  • Experience with Inertial navigation and GPS processing techniques is a plus
  • Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment
  • Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
  • Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared detection technology, optics, and principles of radiometry

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation and/or sensor fusion
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize match filters, convolutional neural networks, and other such techniques to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
