About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking a seasoned experienced Servo Engineer to join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting a space-based sensor contract. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying embedded algorithms for inertial tracking, navigation, and sensor fusion. The engineer will also develop and validate complex models and simulations, evaluate system performance, and support ground and flight test activities, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL). Opportunities exist to work on various programs in different stages of product development and support program reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and testing servo‑control systems for mechanical or aerospace applications
  • Solid foundation in linear algebra, dynamics, coordinate frame transformations, and fundamental control theory (PI filters, Laplace transform, Fourier analysis, state-space modeling, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with motor controllers, motor drive hardware, and feedback devices.
  • Candidate should be fluent in MATLAB, python, and c++
  • Have experience implementing and debugging Servo algorithms running in a real-time environment and experience processing instrumented real-time system data.
  • Candidate must be proficient in developing and validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections.
  • Interim Secret Clearance is needed to start, therefore you must be a US Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment
  • Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with Modelling and Simulation of EOIR systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Experience leading technical multi-disciplinary teams and having been involved in briefing and interfacing with customers

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that perform inertial tracking, inertial navigation and/or sensor fusion
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize match filters, convolutional neural networks, and other such techniques to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
