About The Position

Legacy Charter School is seeking a reliable and student-centered Guest Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This role plays a critical part in ensuring continuity of instruction and maintaining a positive learning environment during teacher absences. The ideal candidate is flexible, proactive, and committed to supporting scholar learning and school operations while contributing to a safe, structured, and respectful school environment. Legacy Charter School is a high-performing public charter school serving approximately 468 scholars in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood. Our team is dedicated to building a strong, joyful learning environment where scholars are supported academically, socially, and emotionally. About the Role The Guest Teacher provides daily instructional coverage in the absence of a classroom teacher, ensuring that learning continues in a structured and productive environment. This role involves implementing provided lesson plans, managing classroom routines, and maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere aligned with Legacy’s core values. When not covering a classroom, the Guest Teacher supports school-wide operations, including supervision duties and administrative tasks, helping ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the school. This role is ideal for an educator who is adaptable, organized, and committed to supporting scholar success in a fast-paced school environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute License required

Responsibilities

Implement lesson plans effectively while adapting as needed to meet scholar needs
Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom environment
Deliver instruction in a clear, organized, and engaging manner
Utilize differentiated strategies to support diverse learners
Build positive relationships with scholars, staff, and families
Uphold school-wide expectations for culture and climate
Supervise scholars during transitions, hallways, and other assigned duties
Support daily school operations, including tasks such as writing passes and assisting with logistics
Use G-Suite tools (Google Classroom, Drive, Calendar) to support instruction and communication
Actively seek feedback and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow
Contribute positively to a collaborative and mission-driven school culture
