About The Position

The Office of Events is a growing department at Utah State University focused on ensuring events exceed expectations. Guest Services Representatives are responsible for creating a fun, exciting, and safe experience for patrons attending USU events. The department is hiring for the upcoming school year and has multiple openings. Team members may have opportunities for growth within the Office of Events, including additional responsibilities with USU Fine Arts events, event hosting, and youth programs, based on performance and availability. These growth opportunities may include internships or work-study placements. Hours will vary depending on the season and the number of events at venues, and may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Visa sponsorship is not available, and U.S. work authorization is required for the duration of employment.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and handle difficult situations with the public and guests in a calm & professional manner.
  • U.S. work authorization is required for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Three months experience with customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests to Utah State University in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Perform accurate access control of entry, including scanning or tearing tickets, identifying fraudulent tickets, and denying invalid credentials.
  • Perform appropriate access control to restricted areas for those with valid credentials.
  • Enforce "prohibited item" rules and professionally communicate the need for compliance.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of facility layout and traffic flow to provide accurate answers to guests and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Assist guests with questions, comments, complaints, or suggestions, acting as a source for information and following up when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Maintain knowledge of individual responsibility and follow proper emergency management procedures.
  • Enforce individual event/venue rules and provide other services as noted by the venue.
  • Provide overall outstanding customer service.
  • Adhere to the dress code standards and code of conduct provided by the department.
