The Guest Services Associate is responsible for emulating the concept of "customer service" while performing all related job duties. This role assists in the development and establishment of customer service excellence standards, policies, and procedures. The associate acts as a resource person for hospital associates and partners in customer service matters and serves as a guest advocate for all internal and external guests. Key duties include cleaning and maintaining wheelchairs, proactively greeting guests, providing wayfinding assistance, escorting guests, and assisting patients/visitors into and out of wheelchairs. The associate also serves as a liaison for patients, supports other departments, resolves patient issues, and applies service recovery when appropriate. They participate in concierge outcome evaluations and action plan design, attend team meetings, and act as a resource person for customer service excellence. Additionally, they accept and disseminate guest, associate suggestions, concerns, and questions to the appropriate areas. The role requires flexible partnership with team members across departments to meet customer needs, acting as a "voice of the customer" by conducting rounds and responding to patient needs. Promoting patient safety by reporting issues and participating in safety initiatives is also crucial. The associate must maintain a high level of skill and knowledge of hospital personnel, departments, information systems, processes, and general hospital information to be considered an expert in customer service. This includes attending educational activities, implementing action plans, and maintaining competency in information and telecommunication systems. The role also involves performing light housekeeping duties, notifying appropriate departments of needs, acting as a "runner" to expedite work, and performing additional duties as assigned. Basic computer troubleshooting and providing interpretation as needed are also part of the responsibilities.
