About The Position

The Guest Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms to hotel standards within an 8-hour workday. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of guest rooms, common areas, and supply closets, as well as reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards. The attendant must adhere to OSHA regulations and hotel policies, ensuring guest privacy and safety at all times. This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a commitment to maintaining high inspection scores.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, requirements, and use of equipment required.
  • Must be flexible enough to work any shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintains inspection scores above 95% monthly.
  • Flexible schedule required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in cleaning hotel guest rooms in a hospitality industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean guest rooms in an 8-hour workday, up to hotel standards.
  • Record room status on work assignment sheets.
  • Vacuum and sweep carpets and floors.
  • Complete special cleaning projects.
  • Mop and clean floors.
  • Dust, brush, polish, and vacuum furniture.
  • Change linen and make beds, following the hotel’s environmental program.
  • Check for damaged and stained linen.
  • Clean showers, tubs, sinks, and bathroom items.
  • Change terry linen, following the hotel’s environmental program.
  • Check for damaged and stained terry.
  • Dust and clean room decorations, microwaves, refrigerators, and structure surfaces (e.g., window sills, vents).
  • Remove used guest amenities and trash.
  • Replace all amenities and linens according to hotel standards.
  • Keep cart and linen closets clean and organized at all times.
  • Report irregularities such as hot-plates, pets, suspicious persons and behavior, unusual items, and activities to the Supervisor.
  • Notify Supervisors of discrepancies such as vacant rooms, etc.
  • Turn in lost and found items as per hotel standards.
  • Remove Room Service trays from rooms and place them on the floor by the room entrance.
  • Report engineering issues via synergy by phone system to hotel standards.
  • Immediately report any broken door locks or safety hazards to management for immediate attention through synergy.
  • Assist in preparation and deep cleaning of VIP rooms.
  • Clean spots on walls, clean windows and edges outside guest rooms.
  • Follow procedures when entering guest rooms, always keeping the guest’s need for privacy in mind.
  • Adhere to OSHA regulations and hotel policies and procedures regarding emergencies, safe work practices, and wearing of protective gear as necessary, and chemical bottles properly labeled.
  • Perform all duties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform a visual inspection before leaving any areas.
  • Follow procedures for issuance and return of room keys, prioritizing of rooms, recordkeeping, and status updates.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and team effort in accomplishing additional projects as assigned.
  • Follow policies and procedures in preparing for and performing turndown service.
  • Maintain assigned closets and employee areas in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area.
  • Call in ready rooms to the Housekeeping Department, enter room status through the phone system.
