About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the guest experience and operational aspects of the Rockbridge Alum Springs facility. The coordinator will serve as a key point of contact for incoming guest groups, ensuring their needs are met and communicating effectively with various departments. A significant aspect of the role involves understanding and upholding the mission and values of Young Life, a Christian ministry focused on evangelism and discipleship. The position requires strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on demonstrating Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.

  • Must have effective phone skills and be a clear communicator.
  • Must be familiar with the ministry strategy and mission of Young Life.
  • Must possess skills and gifts in communication, organization, and administration.
  • Able to function in a healthy manner where relationships are transient in nature.
  • Able to communicate a sense of warmth, hospitality, and concern for all staff and users of the property.
  • Able to relate to all camping staff in a professional manner that enhances the total flow of camp operation.
  • Able to respond to urgent and unscheduled needs of guest groups.
  • Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.
  • Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important.
  • All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community.
  • Able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Shall refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Shall abide by all policies and practices of Young Life, including those related to religious belief or ministry activities.

Nice To Haves

  • A four-year college degree preferred.
  • Training in hospitality preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requests for facilities and services, communicating changes and addressing concerns for incoming guest groups, and relaying this information to relevant departments in advance of arrival.
  • Share host responsibilities with the guest services team.
  • Develop and maintain all guest services materials used in the communication process with guest groups.
  • Cultivate and maintain open communication with Young Life field staff and non-Young Life guest groups regarding their use of and feedback on the property.
  • Understand interdepartmental relations as they pertain to serving guest groups.
  • Possess familiarity with all aspects of camping operations, including Food Service, Housekeeping, Administration, Maintenance, and Guest Services.
  • Serve as the liaison between the property and assigned staff who will utilize the facility during the school year.
  • Research, develop, and implement specific projects as assigned by the guest services coordinator.
  • Answer phone calls and emails, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff/department.
  • Give tours of the camp to various types of visitors.
  • Manage guest experience surveys, including sending, analyzing, and sharing data.
  • Create and send non-nationally managed guest group contracts.
  • Partner with Camp Services on campaigns for non-nationally managed camp events.
  • Create, maintain, and update Group Documents for staff use.
  • Lead a weekly "Weekend meeting" for staff to share information about upcoming groups.
  • Serve as a local resource for camp staff training in YLCC.
  • Host mid-week Young Life Events.
  • Update local websites and pages with current information.
  • Work with creative services when necessary.
  • Create and manage all Trip leader communications for Summer Weeks.
  • Train Head Leaders on and facilitate Day 1 arrival for each camp week.
  • Send out TLO email each summer camp week.
  • Build and maintain monthly FS Reports.
  • Manage bank runs, deposit drop-offs, and change requests.
