About The Position

GSO-Metals Mechanic Repair and fabricate piping. Understand differing metallurgy and the application of same in the refinery. Install and remove various types of blinds, orifice plates and ancillary systems. Must be willing to perform/comply with the following: responsible for the installation/removal, fabrication, welding and repair on equipment such as pipe, steel structure, reactors, heat exchangers, towers, heaters, boilers, tanks and other related equipment in the Refinery. Able to use shop tools (pipe threading machine, drill press, cutoff/band saw, break, roll press, etc.) Ensure all tools are in working condition and make minor repairs as necessary. Ability to read and interpret pipe prints. Ability to take field measurements, operate a forklift, basic rigging knowledge, bolt tensioning equipment. Perform all duties following the safety guidelines established by the Refinery; and must work 12-16 hour shifts when required, which includes some weekends and holidays, working overtime. Must have welding certification in: carbon steel & chrome moly processes and (preferably completed) an apprenticeship program. A minimum of five (5) years of refinery maintenance troubleshooting, installation and repair experience required, or petrochemical field experience preferred. Required computer skills are: knowledge and use of Microsoft office, Outlook and SAP. Must be eligible to qualify or hold a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card).
