About The Position

The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician III is a senior-level technician responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, maintaining, and inspecting a wide variety of ground support equipment, fleet vehicles, powered industrial trucks, generators, tow tractors, hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and other support equipment used in aircraft maintenance operations. This position serves as a technical resource and mentor for GSE Technicians I and II while assisting with maintaining a safe, reliable, and operational GSE fleet supporting FAA Part 145 repair station operations. Employees in this position are required to furnish and maintain the tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the job in accordance with the Company's Tool Program.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, industrial equipment, fleet vehicles, or ground support equipment.
Experience using computerized diagnostic equipment.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to obtain airport driving privileges.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
Ability to successfully complete required Company training and qualification programs.
Advanced knowledge of gasoline, diesel, propane, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, and fuel systems.
Thorough knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair techniques for ground support equipment and fleet vehicles.
Knowledge of computerized diagnostic equipment and electronic troubleshooting methods.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazardous materials handling, environmental requirements, and safe work practices.
Knowledge of manufacturer maintenance manuals, technical publications, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and engineering drawings.
Familiarity with maintenance documentation, repair orders, and inspection records.
Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repair skills.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (when qualified), and computerized diagnostic equipment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Ability to independently diagnose and repair complex equipment failures with minimal supervision.
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting operational deadlines.
Ability to analyze equipment failures and recommend effective corrective actions.
Ability to safely operate ground support equipment, fleet vehicles, forklifts, lifts, and shop equipment.

Nice To Haves

ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certification or equivalent industry certifications.
Welding and metal fabrication experience.
Forklift, aerial lift, or other industrial equipment certifications.
Experience supporting an FAA Part 145 Repair Station, aviation maintenance operation, airport, military, or industrial maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, steering, suspension, braking, and electrical system failures on GSE and company fleet vehicles.
Perform advanced troubleshooting utilizing computer diagnostic software, electrical test equipment, schematics, service manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
Perform major repairs, overhauls, component replacements, preventive maintenance, and inspections on a variety of ground support equipment.
Fabricate, repair, and modify metal components using approved fabrication techniques and welding equipment, when qualified.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and ensure equipment remains in safe operating condition.
Conduct operational testing following repairs to verify equipment performance and reliability.
Assist management with troubleshooting recurring maintenance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
Research replacement parts, vendor information, technical manuals, and repair procedures.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to GSE Technician I and II employees.
Complete maintenance records, repair orders, inspection reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
Maintain accountability for company-owned tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop resources.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Comply with all Company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, hazardous waste procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, accidents, or injuries.
Support operational requirements, including overtime, weekends, or emergency repairs as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
