About The Position

The Emerging Markets team promotes growth in local economies by building meaningful partnerships with merchants across underdeveloped, high-opportunity markets. These T4–T5 geographies represent a significant portion of remaining restaurant opportunities for DoorDash. The team focuses on creating initial connections with SMB restaurants and retailers, assisting them in growing and monetizing through on-demand delivery. This is a field sales opportunity requiring extensive travel within the region, and candidates should reside in or near a major airport. As a Growth Merchant Lead (GML), you will be instrumental in expanding DoorDash’s footprint by opening new markets and onboarding new restaurant partners. You will manage a high-volume, in-person sales cycle, dedicating most of your time to developing Tier 4-5 markets. This role demands significant travel (70%+) and is suited for individuals motivated by building markets from the ground up and directly influencing market growth. You will report to a Regional Sales Manager and collaborate with various cross-functional teams. This field sales role involves substantial regional travel, with the majority of time spent meeting merchants in person, supplemented by remote work. Additional travel may be required for in-person collaboration, training, offsites, and other business needs.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of in-person, outside B2B sales experience (field experience is required)
  • Proven success running short, high-velocity, full sales cycles – including same-day closes.
  • Strong prospecting, hunting, and negotiation skills.
  • Energized by extensive travel – spending 70%+ of your time in the field, including overnight travel inside and outside of your home state.
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and motivated by building and scaling new markets.
  • Demonstrated success operating autonomously and thrive in environments where you will create the playbook, not follow one.
  • Comfortable using Salesforce, Google Workspace, and sales productivity tools.

Responsibilities

  • Expand DoorDash’s presence by traveling to emerging markets and developing new restaurant partnerships.
  • Lead end-to-end, in-person sales cycles– prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing.
  • Sell business owners on DoorDash’s value and secure revenue-share agreements.
  • Consistently execute high-volume field activity and close deals within days.
  • Build scalable approaches and playbooks to accelerate market expansion.
  • Shape DoorDash’s expansion strategy in rural economies.
  • Have an outsized impact on growth in high-priority markets.
