About The Position

Plain is seeking a Growth Manager to join their team as the first dedicated growth individual contributor. This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days a week in the San Francisco office. The company is looking for someone to build and scale their growth engine, focusing on compounding existing channels and exploring new ones. The Growth Manager will work directly with the Head of Growth & Demand Generation, taking ownership of campaigns, systems, experiments, and reporting. There is a clear career progression path, with the potential to grow into a Senior Growth Manager role and eventually lead the growth function end-to-end. Plain is the customer support platform for next-generation B2B companies, with clients like Cursor, Vercel, and Sanity.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in growth, demand generation, or growth marketing, preferably at one or two early-stage B2B companies where multiple responsibilities were handled.
  • Owned at least one of paid media, SEO/AEO, lifecycle marketing, or experimentation as a primary focus, with sufficient experience in others to ramp up quickly.
  • A hands-on approach, preferring to set up campaigns directly rather than delegating.
  • Comfort with technical aspects, including reading Search Console reports, debugging tracking pixels, building workflows in tools like n8n or Zapier, and understanding funnel instrumentation.
  • A track record of shipping initiatives.
  • Clear written communication skills for sharing work and learnings across the company.
  • Ability to articulate opinions and provide constructive feedback on current growth strategies.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for pipeline and revenue.

  • Comfort with a lean, fast-paced environment with minimal process and short approval chains.

Responsibilities

  • Compound paid media by building campaigns across LinkedIn, Google, Reddit, and other platforms. This includes writing copy, setting testing cadences, and optimizing performance.
  • Maintain and grow the company's strongest acquisition lever, organic search (SEO/AEO), by reviewing content changes, catching regressions, and partnering with engineering on technical fixes.
  • Run experiments such as landing pages, paid creative, funnel tests, and channel-level pilots to identify growth opportunities.
  • Bring structure to demand generation programs by briefing design, documenting results, and sharing learnings with sales and the wider company.
  • Develop and present a point of view on future investment areas for Plain's growth strategy.
  • Manage a budget and operate with autonomy to influence revenue.
