Growth, Adoption

Clay LabsSan Francisco, CA
$140,000 - $190,000

About The Position

We're hiring someone whose obsession is product adoption — using lifecycle channels and programs to get Clay's users into new products, faster. You'll own our lifecycle motion end-to-end — email and in-app — and point it at a single goal: driving adoption of new products at Clay. That happens two ways. Directly, through product launches and PLG programmatic plays that get users to try and stick with new features. And indirectly, by promoting the programs designed to deepen adoption — ecosystem cohorts, workshops, and livestreams that turn users into power users. You'll also build the infrastructure that makes this scale — automating the transactional and one-off sends that eat hours today, and standing up a single dashboard where any team can see how their campaign drove adoption. If you think in conversion and adoption rather than sends, like building systems as much as running campaigns, and want to own whether a new product actually lands, this is the role.

Requirements

  • Lifecycle marketing experience. You've owned email and/or in-app programs end-to-end — from audience building and copy to sends, experimentation, and measurement.
  • A bias toward adoption. You think in activation, conversion, and product usage — not sends. You're comfortable reading a dashboard without prompting, running A/B tests, and owning an adoption number.
  • Builder DNA. You've gone 0→1 before — built intake workflows, automation, or reporting where none existed, then scaled it.
  • Comfort with PLG dynamics. You understand how users move from first touch to activated to power user, and how lifecycle comms accelerate every step of that journey.
  • Cross-functional instinct. You work naturally with product, ops, brand, events, and sales. You can take a program owner's request, turn it into a campaign, run it, and report back without a coordinator in the middle.
  • Comfort with PLG dynamics. You understand how users move from first touch to activated to power user, and how lifecycle comms accelerate every step of that journey.
  • Passion for Clay. You're excited to use Clay to build the plays, and to evangelize the product as if it were your own.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the modern GTM and lifecycle stack (Clay, marketing automation platforms,in-app messaging tools, Salesforce).
  • SQL and dashboarding experience (Snowflake, Streamlit) for building your own reporting.
  • Experience driving adoption within a product-led growth funnel.

Responsibilities

  • Own lifecycle channels end-to-end
  • Own the one-off email and in-app communications that drive product and program adoption — product launches, events, workshops, and dinners — keeping the Clay voice consistent across every send.
  • Partner with GTM Ecosystem and Product Marketing on PLG efforts: cohorts, product launches, and trigger-based product campaigns.
  • Run experimentation to lift conversion toward product activation — whether that's driving users to activate directly from a channel, or boosting registration for programs (cohorts, workshops, livestreams) that lead to adoption. For example, testing two emails against a small audience, then blasting the winner to the larger list.
  • Build the systems that make it scale
  • Build an easier way to automate the one-off emails that have to go out for launches, events, dinners, and workshops.
  • Partner with Growth Product and PMM to build automated campaigns that improve our product-led growth funnel.
  • Measure everything
  • Learn what metrics each channel cares about (email and in-app) and build the reporting around them.
  • Help maintain and grow our marketable email audience — building re-opt-in flows and segmenting the audience into lists — and analyze what drives channel fatigue to keep our comms healthy.
  • Run air traffic control
  • Own the roadmap for what comms go out across Clay — coordinating with PMM on launches, Growth Product on funnel optimization, and GTM Ecosystem on cohorts.
  • Think systematically about audiences: who should receive which communication for a given campaign (e.g. registered vs. non-registered contacts for an event).
  • Improve the guardrails that protect the business — unsubscribe rules and other guardrails that keep us from sending comms that do more harm than good.
  • Own the number
  • Be instrumental in driving adoption of new products at Clay — directly through product launches and PLG programmatic plays, and indirectly by promoting the programs designed to increase adoption (like ecosystem cohorts).
  • Carry a product adoption goal measured in activation and usage of new products — and own the lifecycle programs that move the number.
  • Work in lockstep with Growth, Product, Brand, and Data Science so the feedback loop stays tight and the whole motion gets sharper over time.

Benefits

  • All employees can work for free with world-class coaches who specialize in creativity, management, and more.
