About The Position

This position is responsible for the daily care of flocks in growing houses by performing all essential duties. Other duties may be assigned. The work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs. Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview. Requirements

  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months. If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare houses for bird placement by installing metal & wire partitions to form accurate sized pens for bird placement as instructed, setup feed system, and safely operate truck/trailer to transfer birds from FCR to Growout and place in assigned pens (15%)
  • Provide daily care of flock by properly calculating and recording feed amounts using calculator to determine # of pounds per pen, using hopper scale to weigh proper # of pounds per pen, distributing feed into feed hoppers by carrying buckets, monitoring flock for signs of injury/illness/slow growth and placing in recovery pen or euthanizing according to animal welfare policy, and collecting, recording wing band, and disposing of flock mortality, and administer and record medications via the water system as directed by management (30%)
  • Maintains flock environment by flushing water lines weekly by turning flush valve, maintaining pen bedding to animal welfare standards, using handheld electric blower to clear dust from equipment (fans, inlets, etc.) once a week, and verifying feed/water/environmental control systems working properly and report any issues for correction (15%)
  • Collect data regarding bird growth and development by analyzing fleshing (breast size) and sorting as needed, using digital scales to obtain average weight of each pen by weighing 60 females/30 males weekly, collecting weekly lab samples by using boot swabs for environment and cleft pallet swabs for birds, and assisting with euthanasia of birds designated by FCR out list as instructed by manager (30%)
  • Maintain vehicle by checking fluid levels, filters, tire pressure, and clean/disinfect to remove debris, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizer, maintains a clean and organized work/break area. (10%)
