About The Position

The Grower 3 manages crop production within an assigned section, including irrigation, plant nutrition, environmental controls, crop quality, pest response, growing-area structures, and crop documentation. The role also leads, trains, and manages a small team of section growing staff. The work is outdoors 85–95% of the time, in all safe weather conditions. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with rotational weekend work as needed and 40–50 hours during spring.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience or training in a horticultural or agricultural field.
• Plant or horticultural knowledge.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and pumphouses.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Team leadership and training skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage irrigation cycles and pumphouses in the assigned section.
• Manage plant nutrient needs for crops in the section, including dry fertilizer, fertigation, and acids.
• Manage heating and ventilation controls to provide optimal crop conditions and meet sales deadlines.
• Ensure crops meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Identify pest pressure and collaborate with the Plant Healthcare Team to decide on actions.
• Maintain the physical structures of the growing area through direct action and collaboration with Physical Plant.
• Maintain the irrigation system within the assigned section.
• Document crop history and actions.
• Creatively address causes of scrap.
• Lead, train, and manage a small team of section growing staff.
