About The Position

The Grower 3 manages crop production within an assigned section, overseeing irrigation, nutrient needs, environmental controls, crop quality, pest response, and growing-area maintenance. The role documents crop history and actions, works to reduce scrap, and leads, trains, and manages a small team of section growing staff.

The position is outdoors 85–95% of the time, caring for plants in safe weather conditions. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with weekends on a rotational basis as needed. Spring workweeks are 40–50 hours.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience or training in a horticultural or agricultural field.
• Plant or horticultural knowledge.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems and pumphouses.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to lead and train a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage irrigation cycles and pumphouses within the assigned section.
• Manage crop nutrient needs, including dry fertilizer, fertigation, and acids.
• Manage heating and ventilation controls to provide optimal crop conditions and meet sales deadlines.
• Ensure crops meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Identify pest pressure and collaborate with the Plant Healthcare Team to determine actions.
• Maintain the physical structures of the growing area through direct work and collaboration with Physical Plant.
• Maintain the irrigation system within the assigned section.
• Document crop history and actions.
• Creatively address causes of scrap.
• Lead, train, and manage a small team of section growing staff.
