About The Position

The GX Coordinator is responsible for supporting the programming and in-club execution of the Group Exercise department across Defined Fitness locations. This role ensures high-quality class delivery, instructor support, and an engaging member experience through consistent field presence and hands-on involvement. This individual plays a key role in enhancing the overall Group Exercise experience by supporting programming quality, instructor performance, and member engagement. In close partnership with the GX Manager, this role assists in the execution of department initiatives through real-time coaching support, clear communication, and ongoing feedback, ensuring alignment between programming efforts and operational execution.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Group Exercise, fitness programming, or instructor leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor instructors
  • Strong understanding of group fitness formats and trends
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently across multiple locations
  • Must have a valid CPR/AED certification, including infant and child, within the first 45 days of employment and maintain valid certification throughout employment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary driver of Group Exercise programming quality across all locations through consistent in-club presence and engagement
  • Lead by example through active participation in classes, modeling energy, professionalism, and member connection
  • Provide hands-on coaching and real-time feedback to instructors to elevate class delivery, flow, and overall experience
  • Support the onboarding and development of new and existing instructors, ensuring alignment with Defined Fitness standards and expectations
  • Partner with club leadership to identify gaps in class experience, instructor performance, and member engagement, and take action to improve
  • Assist in refining class schedules by identifying opportunities based on class attendance, instructor strengths, and member needs
  • Support the rollout and execution of new class formats, specialty offerings, and GX initiatives across clubs
  • Act as a visible and approachable presence within clubs, building relationships with members and fostering a strong GX community
  • Provide ongoing feedback and insight to leadership regarding instructor performance, class trends, and overall GX experience
  • Support GX events, launches, and club-level initiatives to drive participation and excitement around programming
  • Partner with the GX Operations Coordinator to ensure all programming updates, instructor changes, and class adjustments are communicated clearly and executed accurately within scheduling and payroll processes
  • Provide timely, clear, and actionable feedback on instructor performance, including coaching observations and development needs, to support documentation and tracking
  • Collaborate with the GX Operations Coordinator to ensure alignment between instructor performance, class execution, and supporting operational processes
  • Support the evaluation process through hands-on assessment of instructor performance, providing consistent input that informs documentation, tracking, and performance records
