About The Position

The GX Manager is responsible for overseeing the Group Exercise Department across Defined Fitness locations, including programs such as Yoga, Pilates, Silver Sneakers, Aquatics, and other signature class offerings. In this position, the GX Manager leads the overall performance, operations, and development of the department, ensuring that programming, scheduling, and instructor performance are executed with accuracy and alignment to company standards. This individual is responsible for building and maintaining cutting-edge, member-focused class schedules in coordination with GX Coordinator and senior leadership, ensuring each offering contributes to member engagement, retention, and overall fitness success. The GX Manager will manage and develop the instructor team, drive accountability, and ensure all activities are executed in a cost-effective manner. Through strong leadership, operational excellence, and strategic oversight, this role plays a critical part in enhancing the member experience and advancing the overall success of the Group Exercise program.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to manage administrative processes with accuracy, consistency, and efficiency
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll, scheduling, and documentation
  • Ability to maintain structured systems and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support alignment across departments and roles
  • Ability to identify gaps and support solutions that improve operational effectiveness
  • Ability to work in close partnership with the GX Programming Specialist and club leadership to support shared department goals
  • 3+ years of experience in administrative, operations, or coordination roles preferred
  • Experience with scheduling systems, payroll processing, or similar operational functions preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related systems
  • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Group Exercise department across locations, ensuring consistency and alignment with company standards
  • Assist in driving Group Exercise participation and member engagement through scheduling, programming support, and instructor coordination
  • Support the management and development of GX instructors, including onboarding, communication, and ongoing performance feedback
  • Reinforce departmental expectations, performance standards, and accountability in alignment with company values
  • Maintain and update GX class schedules across all platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper class coverage
  • Manage sub requests and coordinate instructor coverage to ensure all scheduled classes are properly staffed
  • Monitor class participation and performance trends, providing insights and recommendations to leadership for schedule and program adjustments
  • Work with HR to process payroll accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and budgets
  • Track class counts, formats, and instructor compensation to support payroll accuracy and reporting
  • Support departmental budget awareness by monitoring payroll and scheduling efficiency, escalating concerns as needed
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with GX Programming and club leadership regarding instructor activity, scheduling updates, and operational needs
  • Monitor instructor certifications with HR Support and ensure all required documentation remains current, compliant, and properly tracked
  • Coordinate onboarding of new instructors, including paperwork, system access, and required documentation
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of GX schedules, payroll, certifications, and operational materials
  • Support the Group Exercise evaluation process with the support of HX Coordinator in organizing, tracking, and maintaining instructor performance documentation
  • Assist in documenting coaching feedback, performance trends, and development opportunities for instructors
  • Coordinate communication between instructors, club leadership, and CORE Office departments to ensure alignment across GX operations
  • Support the execution of new programming initiatives, events, and GX rollouts through logistics, communication, and implementation support
  • Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of GX studios and equipment to ensure a high-quality member experience
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Utilize company communication platforms to maintain engagement, alignment, and accountability across the GX team
  • Participate in CORE Office-led meetings, trainings, and leadership development opportunities as required
  • Other duties as assigned
