About The Position

The Group Therapist works in CGRC’s CREATE Program (Creating Relationships and Emotional Adaptability in a Therapeutic Environment), a year-round group social skills service for children and adolescents ages 3–21 diagnosed with autism. The program helps clients build social and communication skills, improve problem solving and emotional regulation, and enhance flexibility and motivation across settings. The position provides therapeutic support in accordance with client treatment plans and contributes to curriculum development, progress monitoring, and program outcomes. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, 3–7 PM.

Responsibilities

• Review behavior plans and other documentation to understand the child or adolescent and presenting problem.
• Engage with clients to identify individual, family, and community strengths and resources.
• Provide therapeutic support prescribed in the client’s treatment plan, including crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time-structuring activities, time-out strategies, and psychosocial and rehabilitative activities.
• Support creation and updating of curriculum and lesson plans.
• Monitor and support clients’ daily progress on treatment-plan goals and objectives.
• Support program outcome data collection and analysis.
• Communicate and provide feedback consistently to families and other team members about client progress.
• Intervene and provide immediate assistance in crisis situations.
