About The Position

AJATC is a secure residential program for at-risk male and female youth, located on 110 acres just outside of Little Rock, AR. Through our trained programming for staff, AJATC promotes a normalized high school experience, offers a safe environment and provides opportunities for positive change, as well as providing the unlimited potential for achievement and growth for students and staff. Our campus features residential student dormitories, on-site school and library, vocational training program, chapel, gymnasium, medical and an outdoor recreation area. Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working at-risk youth
  • Supervisory experience is required
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test
  • Be able to pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry
  • Must meet requirements to become an ROP eligible driver, including having an active Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Providing direction and supervision to both staff and students.
  • Directly supervise Coach Counselors and Night Coach Counselors while being within the mix with them on the units, in Education, and anywhere else where there is ROP activity.
  • Exercise authority in ensuring staff and students adhere to the facility and daily schedules, including being on time and participation in all program elements required.
  • Work the same schedule as the Coach Counselors and effectively maintain the proper staff to student ratio for coverage.
  • Making critical and sound decisions during emergencies, including conducting group intervention crisis sessions and inform Unit Managers of concerns.
  • Be a role model for staff and students, leading by example and modeling ROP programming.
