About The Position

Responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in their market segments; prospecting and closing on assigned accounts to positively impact hotel revenues, developing, coordinating and executing marketing promotions and contracts with the objective of increasing business and revenue. Coordinates arrangements for group meetings and conventions by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

  • Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers.
  • Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market.
  • Ability to execute appropriate action plans.
  • Knowledge of hotel operations, including security and safety programs.
  • Ability to operate standard Audio/Visual equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
  • Must meet legal age requirements for the position.
  • Must speak and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with guests, management and coworkers.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized or non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to be proactive with duties and responsibilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of various computer programs, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Explorer.
  • Knowledge of Opera preferred, but not required.
  • Valid California Driver License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years related experience in luxury resorts/hotel group sales and catering
  • 3-5 years related experience in luxury resorts/hotel group sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Responsibilities

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Bernardus Lodge & Spa standards as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include compliance with dress code and wearing a nametag when working.
  • Develop a full understanding of the operations of the hotel including Food & Beverage, Front Desk, Reservations and Sales & Marketing.
  • Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and S.O.P.’s.
  • Meet or exceed set goals.
  • Operate within established sales expense budget.
  • Initiate and follow-up on leads within 24 hours.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
  • Be familiar with the sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).
  • Conduct a professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
  • Attend all-employee meetings and any other functions required by management.
  • Meet and greet onsite contacts.
  • Coordinate and participate in meeting planner familiarization trips.
  • Trace all existing files for repeat business.
  • Maintain regular contact with existing clients and create outbound campaigns to acquire new and future business.
  • Upsell food & beverage and spa.
  • Assist the DOSM with special projects.
  • Support safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times.
  • Other duties and jobs may be assigned as needed by supervisor.
