About The Position

The Group Risk Management job family is accountable for the development and implementation of TD's risk management strategy, governance, policies, practices, programs, reporting and operating frameworks, regulatory affairs and operations associated with the Risk Management function. Credit Risk provides second line of defense oversight through review, analysis, inquiry, and discussion throughout the credit life cycle; roles focus on a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to the lines of business and control partners. The TD Retail Risk Management Credit Card and Personal Lending (RRM CC & PL) Strategy team is responsible for the development and execution of CC and PL automated credit adjudication strategies and initiatives that assist our product partners to achieve growth and profitability targets while maintaining the overall credit risk quality of CC and PL lending portfolio and ensuring portfolio performance within risk appetite. Accountabilities include providing effective challenge on CC and PL Portfolio, as well as designing, implementing, and monitoring credit risk strategies. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Origination, MBNA, ODP and Business Visa Credit Card. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and innovative team responsible for owning Business Visa (BVISA) credit strategies, monitoring portfolio performance, and providing effective challenge on credit risk activities including end‑to‑end ownership of the credit risk strategy design, implementation, and monitoring for BVISA new account originations.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, and ETL processing
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience using data and analytics to solve complex problems, with a strong understanding of data structures and platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of credit scoring models, with working experience in regression‑based and machine‑learning techniques.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and managing data‑driven credit strategies, including producing clear and comprehensive documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (e.g., pivot tables, charts, and visualizations) and PowerPoint.
  • Prior Credit Risk Management experience within a financial institution preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the consumer lending landscape and retail credit products, policies, and processes.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and develop practical solutions to large, ambiguous problems.
  • Demonstrated analytical, reporting, and structured problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership and continuous‑improvement mindset, paired with a proactive, results‑oriented approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, including senior executives.

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field, e.g.: MSc Statistical Science, Masters of Data Science, MSc in Management Business Analytics, Masters of Business Analytics, Masters of Management Analytics, or similar. 5+ years relevant experience. or Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field, e.g.: Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Science, or similar. 7+ years relevant experience.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or similar cloud platforms, including enabling governed analytics and AI use cases in cloud-based environments, is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in automated credit decisioning frameworks, including deterministic systems, predictive risk models, TD’s risk appetite, and credit lending strategies, with a focus on increasing automation and improving decision outcomes.
  • Represent Retail Risk Management as a subject matter expert in the planning and delivery of new initiatives.
  • Partner closely with cross‑functional stakeholders, including Credit Cards and Personal Lending Product, Retail Risk teams, Analytics, Technology, and other control functions, to deliver shared outcomes.
  • Leverage advanced analytics and large‑scale data to identify opportunities to enhance credit decisioning frameworks, balancing business objectives with risk outcomes.
  • Provide value‑add analysis, reporting, and monitoring to support risk oversight and business partner needs; act as a trusted advisor on a broad range of risk‑related matters.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, including championing cloud enablement and adoption of AI‑powered tools to drive improvements across the broader team.
  • Lead the development, testing, and ongoing monitoring of automated risk processes.
  • Own delivery of initiatives that drive risk efficacy and business growth, including concept development, senior management socialization, governance submissions, implementation, and post‑implementation oversight.
  • Shape the future state of BVISA credit strategies across digital and assisted channels, driving alignment across Risk and Business partners and supporting senior management engagement and approvals.
  • Contribute fully as a team member, fostering a positive, inclusive environment that values collaboration, high‑quality output, and continuous improvement.
  • Apply subject matter expertise to support the ideation and delivery of both immediate and enterprise initiatives.
  • Participate in performance management and development activities, including cross‑training within the team.
